So as you may know, I subscribe to a service called Birchbox. For $10/month recurring charge they send you a monthly box of sample size beauty products such as makeup, skincare, and hair care. I received my February 2013 Birchbox today and this is what I received:
Here are the deets:
First of all, I must say the packaging is friggin’ adorable! It doesn’t say how big the sample is, but it appears to be somewhere around 2 or 3 oz. The full size sells for $10.95 on the Birchbox website. This product smells lovely. Kind of like vanilla or some other kind of tasty desert. According to the Birchbox website, this product “conditions, shields from heat and sun damage, and–of course–detangles, among other things. Plus, it’s 100% vegan and suitable for all hair types.” All hair types, huh? We’ll see about that. Ha!
The February Birchbox included a little something for the fellas as well: Atelier Cologne – Ambre Nue. I forcibly applied this cologne to my husband and he wasn’t a huge fan, but he didn’t completely dislike it. He said it smells like Bath & Bodyworks “Woodlands”. LOL. I think it smells alright, very manly and musky. The full size, 200 ml bottle sells for $190! Whoa!
I love candles and anything smell-good, and I must say, this candle smells AMAZING! The Birchbox included a tiny votive from Votivo. It’s a somewhat fruity smell. I really like it! The full size candle sells for $26 on the Votivo website.
I’ve been a Birchbox subscriber for many months now, and my absolute favorite thing to receive is face moisturizers, since they’re often super expensive and probably the best deal of the whole box. This month’s Birchbox comes with a 0.3 oz tube of this moisturizer. Their website says this moisturizer is supposed to hydrate, provide a matte finish, and soften the look of fine lines and wrinkles. A full-size, 2oz tube sells for $68. So basically, if you do the math, that means that this tiny 0.3 ounce tube is actually worth about $10, or as much as I paid for this entire Birchbox! Sweet Deal! :)
I’m suddenly having deja vu… and I don’t like it. I received this exact same product in last months Birchbox. Maybe they had leftovers the had to get rid of, so they gave some of us duplicates. It’s a perfectly fine product, but I wanted to try something new, so I’m a bit disappointed. But anyway, this product is a multi-purpose shadow/blush. It looks very similar to NARS Orgasm. I can’t lie. I’m still a little pissed that I got the same product in two consecutive boxes.
I don’t think this product requires too much explanation. Everyone loves Ghirardelli squares. Needless to say, right after I took this picture, I devoured this item. Yum!
Anyway! I hope you enjoyed my unboxing! If you want to purchase your own Birchbox, you can do so here: http://www.birchbox.com.
